Books for Treats

Connect midtown elementary students to libraries and FREE reading material.

For 5 years, the Century Chapter of the Friends of the Phoenix Public Library has administered the Books for Treats program which brings free books, library cards & Storytime to surrounding school children. One lucky school is selected each year to receive 1 free book per student, plus a Storytime by a librarian from Century Library where kids can also sign up for their library cards.

We are currently seeking some new Friends to help maintain and expand this program. The best candidates will:

  • Have a passion for literacy, libraries and children’s literacy.
  • Be well-organized.
  • Enjoy collaborating with others.
  • Have daytime availability and a relatively flexible schedule, as the program has to work around the school’s daily activities.
