What makes a watershed worth protecting?

We are looking for volunteers willing to serve as Watershed Educators who will inspire youth in grades 5-12, through educational activities and hikes, to value and protect the natural and cultural resources of San Diego County's watersheds.

The Watershed Explorers Program is actively seeking people who are interested in learning about the distinctive nature, history, and culture of the San Dieguito River watershed stretching from Volcan Mountain 55 miles west to Del Mar. Join us as we spread our enthusiasm and knowledge to the next generation of citizens and stewards.

Volunteer Watershed Educators receive training and access to exclusive events. For more information on the Watershed Explorers Program and volunteer opportunities visit www.watershedexplorers.org. Contact Education Manager, Ana Lutz, at ana@sdrvc.org with any questions.

To protect and share the natural and cultural resources of the San Dieguito River Valley through collaborative efforts

Description

The San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, citizen-based organization, was founded in 1986, when a relatively small group of citizens coalesced to effectively communicate the Greater San Diego community's want for green open spaces to enhance its quality of life. Today, the community enjoys the San Dieguito River Park, which stretches 94,000 acres from coast (Del Mar) to crest (Volcan Mountain). The Conservancy helps to promote educational, cultural and recreational opportunities within the expansive nature park.
