The Friends of the Camarillo Library (FOCL) is a nonprofit, all volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the beautiful Camarillo Library. The Website Manager maintains and updates the Friends of the Camarillo Library (FOCL)website at www.friendscamarillolibrary.org. Although this position is primarily completed virtually, because this is a Board position, our bylaws require that you live in the greater Camarillo area (Camarillo, Somis, or Santa Rosa Valley). We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as work will include collaboration with other Board of Directors’ committee members and the Bookstore Supervisor. The Website Manager typically puts in 12-15 hours a month, which includes attending the monthly board meetings (currently via Zoom), but normally held at the Camarillo Library.
Responsibilities

Maintain and update the Wix website

  • Answer or forward form and email submissions received through the website
  • Assist FOCL volunteers with computer hardware and software questions and technical problems
  • Attend monthly Board meetings and report on relevant tasks and progress
  • Provide support for FOCL projects, campaigns, activities, and community outreach events
  • Work closely with the Website Assistant, including training and delegating
Skills
  • Knowledge of front-end web design, usability principles, and the Wix interface
  • General knowledge of graphic design
  • Well-versed in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in computer hardware and software troubleshooting and technical support
  • Able to manage a diverse and changing workload with competing priorities
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, being a proactive self-starter
  • Interpersonal skills that allow for working encouragingly and patiently with others
  • Advocate, encourage, and support the use of the website and its online services

  • Must possess an independent interest in technology and a willingness to keep informed of emerging technologies
  • Minimum two-year commitment

Mission Statement

The Friends of the Camarillo Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation run totally by volunteers. Its mission focuses on bringing to the attention and interest of the Camarillo community on the services and facilities of the Camarillo Library. The Friends helps support the Library by providing funding of new book and magazine purchases, library materials and supplies, and year-round library programs for children through seniors.

Description

The Friends of the Camarillo Library is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Camarillo Public Library. The Friends operates a bookstore (located adjacent to the library) that sells gently used books, DVDs, music CDs, and audiobooks that are donated by the generous public. The funds from the bookstore sales, along with membership dues, monetary donations, and bequests, goes towards advancing our mission. The Friends continues to strive to annually donate an average of $200,000 (pre-COVID) to the library.
