Telamon's ESL program focuses on assisting customers with gaining the English skills necessary to obtain, maintain or upgrade employment. Through the English in the Workplace Program (EWP) customers learn English in an ESL manner with employability driven coursework.

Assist the ESL facilitators with teaching English to customers including one on one tutoring, small group conversational skills, reading and writing prep and computer software assistance. Other duties may include prepping materials for classes and modifying lesson plans for various customers.

We would ask that volunteers dedicate at least 1 session per week (2 hours) so that the ESL teachers can plan accordingly. Volunteers who wish to prep have more flexible options from a minimum of 1/2 hour a week to several hours per week.

Current students hail from varied cultural backgrounds and have different levels of English from Beginning ESL Literacy to Advanced ESL. Ages range from 18-60 and both males and females are present.

All volunteer sessions to occur on Telamon premises though virtual sessions are a possibility.

All volunteers must complete 1 hour informational session.

Lots of other volunteer opportunities open as well so if this time doesn't work for you, contact us to see what else is available! For more information about Telamon Corporation, please visit us at or follow us on Facebook at

Thank you for your interest in volunteering to teach English in your community!

In 2014, Telamon began providing financial literacy services to families and staff in our Delaware Head Start programs through an innovative partnership with the State of Delaware's $tand By Me(tm) program. In 2016, our Governing Board and executive leadership set a strategic goal for growth by embedding financial empowerment for customers and staff into all our lines of business.

Now in our 52 nd year of service‚Äč, our organizational growth is based on the positive outcomes our customers achieve.
