Riley Orton Foundation is looking for volunteers to help at Akili School www.akilischool.weebly.com and Maendeleo Hub www.maendeleohub.org .
Volunteers can apply to work with girls at the Akili School or the community at maendeleo hub
Volunteer activities include:
Teaching computer skills to primary school girls at Akili School
Teaching art, music, drama, debate, sports etc at Akili School
Training community self help groups on basic computer skills, entrepreneurship, project management, networking and accessing funding/grants, developing business proposals, monitoring and evaluation etc
Help to design/plan maendeleo eco farm
Volunteer to conduct research/needs assessment in the community
Help self help groups to write bylaws, constitutions, theory of change/strategic vision etc
Fund or link groups to seed funding to start or scale income generating activities
Train farmers on regenerative agriculture/permaculture
Connect farmers with financial resources to do farming , purchase water tanks for irrigation and family use,
Develop Maendeleo Eco Farm into a viable demonstration farm supporting communities in Kisumu, Kenya
Teach yoga, health/fitness lessons
Teach families and kids how to cook and eat healthy food at the farm and at school
Fundraise and write grants to support the school, farm and maendeleo hub

Volunteers live with local families at a cost.
Volunteers are also free to arrange for own accommodation in Kisumu town, 25km away from project site
