ORGANIZATION: Junior Achievement of Rhode Island

Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.

JA of Rhode Island is looking for volunteers in the workforce or retired from the workforce to teach a 5-week program at the William Callahan Elementary School. Each week, for 45 minutes, the volunteer will lead students in an engaging discussion and activity relating to the Junior Achievement's Our City program. Students will explore zoning found within a city; the importance of money to a city, paying taxes, and how people use different methods to pay for goods and services. They also will explore how financial institutions, entrepreneurs, and news media contribute to the financial well-being of a city.

JA programs are comprehensive and easy to use. JA staff trains each volunteer and provides them with a program kit which includes all materials and instructions. We encourage volunteers to share their unique personal experiences during lessons.

Thank you for your interest!
