Opportunities range from short-term to long-term time commitments. Training is adjusted to fit each role.

Becoming a trained and certified hospice volunteer not only provides the volunteer the skills and comfort level to support our mission, it also gives the volunteer the skills and knowledge to support his/her own community and family.

Recent employment data shows that employers value volunteer experience as much as employment experience. Being a hospice volunteer creates doorways to careers in the medical field.

  • Listen and incorporate your feedback in the growth of our services and programs
  • Provide verification of volunteer hours served and training certification
  • Write letters of reference for individuals who have served a minimum of 30 hours
  • Show gratitude for your service!

  • Always communicate with patients/families and the Volunteer Coordinator regarding shift changes
  • Provide advance notice of resignation

Mission Statement

Our Mission: To provide excellent , compassionate end-of-life care for those touched by illness, grief, and loss. Our Vision: To be the premier hospice and palliative care care provider in North Alabama. Our Values: Safety, Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Innovation, Accountability and Equality

Description

To achieve excellent and compassionate care, Hospice Family Care positions itself as bridge. For patients and families, this bridge means connecting them to the support and resources needed to provide the best care possible. It also means supporting their dreams, wishes and goals, like going to the beach, ziplining, attending church, and more.

For volunteers and the community, this bridge means connecting the passion, talent, and time of our devoted community to the care and support of our cause. As the only nonprofit hospice provider, we unite our volunteers, donors, and nonprofit partners to make patient dreams come true and provide essential grief support to adults and children. Just one example is The Caring House, community funded grief support for any child 3 to 18 years old. www.caringhousehuntsville.com
