The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
This is a Virtual Opportunity, with no fixed address.
RSVP will launch a new program in the Spring to teach young students (Pre-school through grade 3) Spanish. This is not normally taught in the Public Schools until 7th grade, so we are reaching them at a time when their minds are open to a new language without a "translation" step. We will begin with a pilot program in the East Stroudsburg area and then as the program develops, expand outwards to the other districts and multiple locations. We are very excited to be able to offer this program here in the county. We will be seeking bilingual volunteers who are willing to be trained and obtain all the necessary clearances (state mandated).
In addition, we need bilingual volunteers to assist in other areas, like Grocery Shopping, Friendly Visiting and Friendly Phone calling for homebound residents.
