ORGANIZATION: Bridging Borders International

Where the world connects!

Bridging Borders International is a nonprofit organization that engages with people from all over the world for the purpose of bridging cultural differences, improving cultural understanding and leading the way for cross cultural communications. We embrace world cultures by intentionally loving students from all nations; fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and unity. Through this passion, we establish and host weekly "cafes" in strategic cities in the U.S. where American volunteers and International students share in cultural expereinces and create long lasting friendships.

Board Member’s Purpose: To serves Bridging Borders International as strategic leaders in their communities; gifted in areas of developing corporate policies, administrative and financial responsibilities (including fundraising and disbursing of funds). These members will serve as advocates for our organization’s mission and to further impact the global community.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, articulates and prioritizes the issues, topics and challenges affecting our nonprofit.

  • Assists the executive team to give better insights on international affairs, government oversight and help determine the best strategies to reach and engage with international students and volunteers.

  • Hold the board and executive committees accountable to Bridging Borders International’s mission and objectives.

  • Participates in quarterly meetings, conference calls, and other activities to their dedicated availability.

Qualifications:

  • Faith: Deep relationship with Jesus Christ; agree with our Statement of Faith and/or the Apostle's Creed.

  • Experience: Senior-level in their profession (director or higher) ideally from the industries of finance, education, international outreach and legal.

  • Education: Graduate level or postgraduate degree is preferred.

  • Communicative: Excellent cross cultural communication skills with cultural sensitivities.

  • Loyal: Committed through time and money to see the success of the Bridging Borders International to impact the international student sector.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend bi-annual board meetings (additional meetings may be called more often prior to our initial launch).

  • Participate in advisory calls (4-6 per year).

  • Respond to requests, via e-mail and phone, for feedback and input on a variety of items and activities.

  • Attend our Annual benefits dinner in February of each year, dinners to start in 2018.

    • and assist our executive team in capitalizing on and responding to these trends.

  • Sharpen Your Leadership Skills: Participate in growing start-up nonprofit that gives you full opportunity to shine with your best leadership strengths in a supportive environment.
