The Director of Development & Finance creates and oversees the implementation of a strategic approach to fundraising which may include major gifts, corporate donations, grant solicitation, and in-kind resources.
Directors of Development perform some or all the following duties:
- Work with the management team to identify funds needed, preferred funding targets, and approaches
- Develop and implement Safe Space, Inc.’s annual financial (budget) and fundraising strategy
- Prepare regular reports on progress, budgets, receipts and expenditure related to fundraising and the management of the fund development activities
- Oversee the development and execution of all proposals; write and archive all proposals with a long-term relationship-management approach
- Support and partner with the Executive Director and Board of Directors members on all major fundraising initiatives
- Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to Board of Directors and Operations Team
- Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and regional expansion
- Actively work with the Executive Director and Operations Team to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include corporate, foundation, government grants, etc.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with donors and prospects
- Develop policies and procedures for the development department which reflect ethical fundraising practices

Safe Space, Inc. is dedicated to providing a safe, accepting and supportive environment to combat social stigma, bullying and other issues faced by LGBT+ youth.
Description
We are a grass roots organization founded in March 2016 with the goal of providing a welcoming environment to LGBT+ youth in the Nothern Virginia area. Some of the programs we plan on offering include social activities, self defense classes, mentoring and tutoring. Age wise we are targeting high school students age 14 to 18.
