We are looking for fosters in the Greater Boston area.
We ask fosters to commit to prvoiding a loving home for 6-8 weeks. While in a foster home the shelter animal works with a trainer and is prepared for a happy life with a Veteran.
Being a foster and providing a good environment for the shelter is a commitment. As a foster you have to provide a safe environment for the animal and have a schedule that is conducive to having a pet. Although fostering is a commitment it is also very rewarding. You'll have the opportunity to see a shelter animal get a second chance and know that once training is complete the pet is going to make a Veteran very happy.
If if you are interested in learning more about this amazing volunteer opportunity please contact us today.

Mission Statement
To help heal the emotional wounds of military veterans by using the power of the human-animal bond to provide a second chance for shelter animals by rescuing, training, and pairing them with America's servicemen and women who could benefit from having a companion animal.
Description
The Pets for Vets program is dedicated to supporting veterans and providing a second chance for shelter pets by rescuing, training and pairing them with America ’s veterans who could benefit from a companion animal.
Our goal is to help heal the emotional wounds of military veterans by pairing them with a shelter dog that is specially selected to match his or her personalit y. Profession al animal trainers rehabilita te the dogs and teach them good manners to fit into the veteran’s lifestyle. Training may include desensitiz ation to wheel chairs or crutches, recognizin g panic or anxiety disorder behaviors, etc.
Needy shelter dogs receive a second chance at life while giving our returning troops a second chance at health and happiness. The bonds of friendship formed between man and animal have the power to ease the suffering of our troops when they return from overseas.
