Chino Basin Water Conservation District is seeking Conservation Education interns. Conservation Education interns will assist in the District's K-12 water conservation education programs which includes providing inquiry-based environmental education tours and lessons to K-12 students at our Water Conservation Campus in Montclair. The intern will be introduced to the environmental/conservation education field and will get the opportunity to experiment with various instruction strategies. We strive to provide inquiry-based learning exploration during the tour of our water wise demonstration garden, percolation basin, conservation center, and drought tolerant arboretum. The intern will also assist with K-12 events such as our Design to Harvest contest, Earth Day festival, and additional field trips.
This position is unpaid but offers the opportunity to gain valuable environmental education work experience and training. Interns must be enrolled in school and receiving academic credit for their participation. Scheduling is somewhat flexible based on availability but it is preferred interns are available at least one weekday morning a week. The intern(s) will be directly supervised by Lindsey McConnell, our Program Educator.

Mission Statement
The Chino Basin Water Conservation District is a public agency whose goal is the protection of the Chino Groundwater Basin in order to guarantee that current and future water needs will be met. The Basin is protected by the capture and percolation of waters through the District’s network of channels, basins and spreading grounds. Water conservation education is provided to the individuals and organizations within the service area to further promote the efficient use of our water resources.
Description
The Chino Basin Water Conservation District is sustaining a regional water supply through public stewardship by engaging in the following strategies:
DEMONSTRATE the multiple benefits of water efficient landscapes to conserve water, capture stormwater, and use recycled and grey water.
EDUCATE to inspire the broad adoption of a water conservation ethic and ACTIVATE public stewardship and a water-efficiency workforce.
PERCOLATE stormwater and promote distributed onsite capture to replenish local groundwater supplies, ensuring our region's needs are efficiently met.
