The Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) connects volunteer attorneys with low-income clients who need legal help. Our monolingual clients need interpreters to communicate with attorneys in depositions and in completing paperwork. Most clients are at risk of being evicted, being sued for a debt, or have a family law matter. Utilizing your language skills provides critical help to clients so they can receive life-changing legal assistance.
Once you attend this free 1-hour interpreter training, we add you to our volunteer panel based on the language you speak. You will receive emails of available opportunities for your specific language and you choose the cases that match your interest and time availability.
We also need volunteer interpreters at our free walk-in legal clinics, held two Saturdays a month (one in downtown SF and one in the Bayview Hunter’s Point area).
