Beat Cancer Today holds a silent auction fundraiser every year. We need great silent auction items for our events and that means reaching out to a LOT of local businesses. We have a template email and letter that can be used, we just need people willing to contact all of these businesses and request donations. We've found that walking into a business and talking to a manager is even more effective than just blind emailing people, so if you're in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, we could REALLY use you!
Restaurants, hotels, entertainment venues and local businesses are all great resources that are happy to donate items or gift certificates, we just need help asking! We can give you more information on where the requests are tracked in a spreadsheet and where the donations can be mailed for those interested in helping! Part of the job will be looking up appropriate contact information for local Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area businesses and then sending them our official request letter via email.

Description
Formed by Iowa families whose children have been diagnosed with childhood cancer, Beat Cancer Today's mission is to create awareness of childhood cancers and to provide financial support for childhood cancer research, and for patient and family support programs. Beat Cancer Today raises funds through apparel sales and special events and distributes those funds to Children’s Cancer Connection, Children’s Oncology Group, and University of Iowa Dance Marathon.
While not all of our committee members are parents of children with cancer, we have all been touched by childhood cancer in some way and are committed to working hard to raise awareness of it and provide financial support for continued research and support programs.
Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease in children, more than the next four childhood diseases combined.
