About

Types of volunteers:

  • Direct Care Volunteers meet with patients at their home or in a nursing home. These visits consist or time spent reading, praying, visiting, or reminiscing. Volunteers can also make phone calls to patients for evening tuck-ins. All initial visits with patients are performed under the supervision of a Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Indirect Care Volunteers contribute to patient morale through card creating or writing, craft projects, and special projects. They are also instrumental in the development and completion of our quarterly Memorial Service. Indirect volunteers work under the supervision of a Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Administrative Volunteers are support team members who completes projects and tasks within the office. They can help with clerical functions and organizational activities within the Volunteer Department.
  • Special Event/Community Education Volunteers pave the way with support of the volunteer team at community functions and educational appearances. They hand out flyers, complete initial volunteer meetings and represent Heart of Hospice and the Volunteer Team through positive interaction with potential volunteers and or patients.
