Types of volunteers:
- Direct Care Volunteers meet with patients at their home or in a nursing home. These visits consist or time spent reading, praying, visiting, or reminiscing. Volunteers can also make phone calls to patients for evening tuck-ins. All initial visits with patients are performed under the supervision of a Volunteer Coordinator.
- Indirect Care Volunteers contribute to patient morale through card creating or writing, craft projects, and special projects. They are also instrumental in the development and completion of our quarterly Memorial Service. Indirect volunteers work under the supervision of a Volunteer Coordinator.
- Administrative Volunteers are support team members who completes projects and tasks within the office. They can help with clerical functions and organizational activities within the Volunteer Department.
- Special Event/Community Education Volunteers pave the way with support of the volunteer team at community functions and educational appearances. They hand out flyers, complete initial volunteer meetings and represent Heart of Hospice and the Volunteer Team through positive interaction with potential volunteers and or patients.

Description
Do you have a heart for hospice care? We know you do. Volunteering with Heart of Hospice is simple and rewarding. Our patients appreciate every minute of time that is donated to them whether through visits, cards, phone calls or gifts. All volunteers receive free orientation and on-going training. Volunteers are assigned to patients according to their location to keep travel to a minimum. There is no minimum number of hours required per month. All initial visits with patients are made along side a Volunteer Coordinator who can guide you through your first meeting. Heart of Hospice has a need for all types of volunteers.
