Mary Centre is looking for a Day Program Volunteer for our Toronto Day Program which operates Monday through Friday from 8:30am-4:00pm. The volunteer would be responsible for outlining their time commitment to the program (example: every Tuesday for 5 hours),and maintaining a consistent schedule for a minimum of six months.

The volunteer would assist Mary Centre staff in the delivery of meaningful activities which promote life skills, literacy and numeracy skills, healthy and active living, and social interaction for adults with developmental disabilities.

Activities at the Day Program vary daily and may include community outings (i.e. library, volunteering, and community events), facilitating group programs (i.e. cooking), arts and crafts, games, and group discussions.

Mary Centre is looking for a volunteer who is able to provide a minimum six month commitment. The volunteer is flexible, has great communication skills, and is friendly, outgoing, and patient. Experience with developmental disabilities is beneficial, but not a requirement.

Mary Centre provides all mandatory trainings, both online and in person. These include:
-Orientation to Mary Centre
-Individual Specific Training
-Mission & Value Statement
-Statement on Catholicism
-Individuals Rights
-Education & Awareness on Abuse Prevention and Reporting for Individuals
-Safe Driving (for volunteers who drive an individual in their vehicle)
-Protecting the Vulnerable
-Violence in the Workplace

Mary Centre highly recommends First Aid/CPR, and Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB) training. * A current vulnerable sector search within six months is required*

Mary Centre Location is fully accessible, however the Day Program may go out into the community and Mary Centre cannot guarantee the accessibility of these locations.
