The Nashville Regional HIV Planning Council has three standing committees that are open to membership from the public and we are looking for skilled and committeed volunteers to help our Planning Council to shape effective recommendations that would result in an accessible and high quality system of care for those living with HIV in Davdison County and twelve surrounding counties.

  • Our 'Needs Assessment' committee is looking for skills around working with data in the community.
  • Our 'Standards of Care' committee is looking for skills and knowledge around best practices and standards for funded services that would result in increased health outcomes for those living with HIV.
  • Our 'PSRA' committe (Priority Setting and Resource Allocation) is looking for skills around strategically allocating program funds in order to best meet the goals of the Planning Council and in allignment with needs and standards of care.

Each committee meets approximately once a month and would require approximately three to four hours of your time per month.

The vision of the Nashville Regional HIV Planning Council is to eliminate HIV through working together as a community. How we get to making this difference is through: •Collecting and assessing data together. •Ensuring the delivery of accessible and quality services to people living with HIV and AIDS. •Creating meaningful community partnerships. •Eliminating disparities where we can. •Reducing stigma and promoting public awareness around this disease.

Description

The Planning Council is a community body established under thefederal Ryan White Part A Program. While anyone can apply to be a member of the Planning Council the members are finally appointed by the Mayor of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County; accoring to the recruitment needs of the council. The council has several committees and we always welcome interest in helping our board with relevant skils or knowledge.

The Planning Council has some primary duties, these include:

  • Develop and implement policies and council operations.

  • Assess needs of those living with HIV in the community.

  • Do comprehensive planning in order to ensure an accessible system of care.

  • Strategically allocate funds to ensure an accessible system of care.

  • Help to ensure coordination with other planning bodies locally, throughout the State and nationally.

  • Develop standards of care for all funded services.

  • In addition the Planning Council focuses attention on addressing disparities in HIV care.

At this time the Membership Committee of the Planning Council is especially interested in those that might have skills that fit one of our committees - committees meet approximately once a month and would require a volunteer commitment of three to four hours of a month.
