Ride

Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore is in need of a responsible adult to lead Girl Scouts of our Horse Club at the horse farm as they learn about horsemanship.

*Prior experience as a horseback riding instructor is a plus, but not required. We will train the right people.*

The volunteer opportunity would begin in March 2017 and it is an ongoing position.

The adult will take attendance, prepare activities for the girls, possibly get a guest speaker, and help the girls enjoy their experience at the horse farm.

This program is held once per month on Saturday afternoons in Farmingdale.

Below is the list of the dates we have planned thus far in which the program will run starting in March 2017:

  • March 18, 2017
  • April 15, 2017
  • May 20, 2017
  • June 17, 2017

Mission Statement

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

Description

Founded in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA is the preeminent organization for girls with a current membership of 3.6 million girls and adults. Volunteers use their expertise, skills, interests, and life experience to shape fun and enriching leadership experiences for girls, and inspire them to reach their personal best. Volunteers help council staff facilitate the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls through exciting program opportunities: leadership/self-esteem, financial literacy, travel, health/wellness, science, technology, engineering, and math. Volunteers choose from several flexible Pathways (the ways that girls and adults join Girl Scouting) that fit their lifestyles, including short-term or long-term service working either directly or indirectly with girls, and they can participate regionally, nationally, and internationally.
