Emergency Disaster Services

Be prepared to respond to local disasters with The Salvation Army! The office of Emergency Disaster Services is providing training in our area on March 10-11, 2017 at the Texas City corps located at 4210 Texas Avenue.

3:00-4:00 - Safe from Harm. This is required for all volunteers who will work in any capacity with people receiving service from The Salvation Army.

4:00-8:00- Introduction to Emergency Disaster Services. This class is required for anyone who wants to volunteer during an emergency response.

Saturday, March 11
8:30-5:30- Disaster Food Service and Canteen Operations. This is specialized training required for volunteers providing food service only. Safe from Harm and Introduction to Emergency Disaster Services are required prerequisites.

Note: Registration in Safe from Harm is included automatically with your registration for Intro to EDS. Please plan to arrive by 3:00 on Friday, March 10 to complete all required classes. Online training is also available.

Description

The Salvation Army of Galveston County provides a transitional residential program in Galveston that seeks to restore and rebuild lives in Galveston by providing temporary shelter, case management and education services, and tools for securing employment. At the end of their stay, it is our desire that each one who participates leaves with employment, housing and the tools to maintain both. In addition, emergency rent, utility and food assistance is offered to Galveston County residents. Church services are offered on Galveston Island and in Texas City on Sunday mornings for anyone in the community.
