Do you know what harmful contaminants are in your water? How it gets there? What effect it has on your families and environment? Save the Water(tm) (STW(tm)) is the one looking for answers.

STW(tm) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to conduct water research to identify and remove harmful contaminants in water; and to raise public awareness about water contamination and its health impacts. STW also offers educational programs to excite young minds about water science.

Our volunteers are diverse professionals from all over the world bringing their knowledge and experience to STW because we care deeply about our communities and water resources. Save the Water(tm) is currently looking for creative and highly motivated Content Editors to join our Publishing Department and work closely with Education Department. Put your content editing skills to use on behalf of your drinking water. Looking for those who can creatively edit our content. Join our publishing team and help improve our newly designed website by increasing its visibility. You will work directly with the top managers of Save the Water to take our website to the next level. Our goal is to move up the search rankings by giving the proper attention to keywords, internal and outbound links, site architecture and more. Put your skills to work for a good cause while building your portfolio and knowledge.

This opportunity is excellent for high school/college students looking to grow their resume/ portfolio and have an interest in education and the environment. No background necessary. Will train once on-board.

Associates are expected to put in a minimum of 5 hours per week and be responsive to emails within three (3) calendar days.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Proofread, edit and improve stories or pieces, making sure they are free of errors.

  • Check over writers' final drafts in a timely manner to help meet publishing deadlines.

  • Make sure the writing is easy to read and fits the publication's editorial style.

  • Report to Project Leader for the given project team

  • Attend monthly Publishing group meeting and the monthly Social Media Group’s YouTube meeting

  • Complete the PWR at least on weekly minimum basis

Experience/Requirements:

  • Proven working experience as an editor

  • Strong writing/editing/proofreading skills and an excellent portfolio

  • Hands on experience with MS Office and InDesign, Photoshop or other publishing tools

  • Excellent written skills in English, APA Style

  • An eye for detail along with critical thinking

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously.

  • Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with the public.

  • Must demonstrate effective oral communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with staff inside and outside of the department.

  • Imagination and good visual sense
