About

Friends,

Know Your City has partnered with Unique Ink and Roosevelt high school to bring you 10 children's books, written by youth in the St Johns community of Portland, OR.

Only 10% of children's books are written by people of color, and only 12% of characters in children's books are not white. These books aim to change that so that young readers in our diverse neighborhood can see themselves in the literature.

Our books are in Spanish and English. We need volunteers to ensure that there are accents where they need to be, and that the text is readable for young children. There are 10 in total, most of which just need final details.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please reach out to Lydia Grijalva by responding to this ad, or emailing Lydia@KnowYourCity.org.

Thank you for your time and energy. Looking forward to hearing from you.
