We need assistance in multiple ways. There are over 550 Indian tribes in the United States and at one level or another youth suicide is a major challenge. We need folks to contact the health and human services offices in these tribes and share with them the successes we've encountered and let them know there is a Native American organization that fully understands their plight. Likewise, we need folks to contact the many organizations throughout the US that work in this area to inform them about our programs. Finally, we have a database of 18,000 potential donors that we need to call and ask them to help us save the lives of these young folks.
Suicide in Indian Country, for youth, is at a rate six times the national average. Over fifth Native American youth attempt suicide each and every day. Over 800 Indian youth die each year from their own hands. The problem is epidemic and we are working to provide those with suicide ideation alternatives ... and save lives.
