We at SOLO seek people to ski with folks of all ages who have special needs. Help with either cross-country or downhill skiing, or do both. Bring your smile, sense of humor and patience. Don't pay for anything. We do cross-country skiing 9-11 am Saturday mornings at Rum Village Park in South Bend. Downhill skiing is Monday nights at Swiss Valley Ski Area in Jones, Mich.; a bus picks us up at 6 pm in Granger and brings us back at 10 pm. SOLO provides skis and lift tickets. The program runs for six weeks starting in early January, but we want to round up our volunteers by December. Come to our orientation at 5:30 pm Monday, Nov. 26, 2018 at the LOGAN Center, 2505 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, Ind. Or, if you can't make that, come to our exercise session (where volunteers and students mix it up) at 6 pm Monday, Dec. 10, 2018 at the gym at Hannah & Friends, 51136 Hollyhock Road, South Bend. You'll need to fill out a quick, 2-page application. Find those forms, full schedule and lots more info at www.skisolomichiana.org.
