Stoneview Nature Center is a brand new park being built on 5 acres of reclaimed greenspace. The site was once covered with concrete and has since been turned into a garden oasis for people and native wildlife. We have hundreds of new plantings that need to be tended to and monitored while they establish themselves. We also have a demonstration garden full of food and an outdoor demonstration kitchen. Stoneview Nature Center is looking for volunteers that could commit to one, four hour shift a week or two weekend days a month. Plantings include but are not limited to: California natives, fruit trees, various herbs and vegetables.
Possible duties may include:
-Basic gardening/weeding/ planting
-Chemical free pest management
-Composting
-Plant identification and mapping
-Harvesting fruit and vegetables
-Developing and leading public garden and cooking programs.
A volunteers interests, skills, abilities and availability guide initial placement.
