Celebrate with a Make and Take!
December 27, 28, 29, 30 / 12:30 -3:30
After the Holidays, get out of the house and join us for a week of hands on art activities. Explore different artistic techniques, then venture into the galleries to see how artists have applied them.
Each day we will focus on a different artist (in our collection as well as on loan to the museum), and since it is the season for gift giving, we have themed the week around each artists’ gift. All crafts created will be small enough to fit into a small gift box, which we will also provide.
We will be recognizing the following artists’ gifts:
- Phyllida Barlow: The Gift of the Anti-monument - transform ordinary material into a sculpture, through wrapping and layering.
- William Merritt Chase: The Gift of Light - capture the light in your own impressionistic mini landscape painting inspired by William Merrit Chase’s Shinnecock Hills, Autumn.
- Teresita Fernandez: The Gift of Memory- create your own nocturnal landscapes inspired by the work of Teresita Fernandez.
- José Bedia: The Gift of Exploring Identity- make a mixed media collage that presses your unique qualities.
