ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association, Central Illinois Chapter

1) General Summary of Position:

  • Attend Springfield Lobby Day in April with advocates and Association staff
  • Assist in the recruitment, organization and follow up for Springfield Lobby Day
  • Cold Calls to previous and potential Lobby Day attendees
  • Works with Public Policy staff and Graphic Designer to develop Lobby Day manual for advocates
  • Collaborate with Association staff in distribution of training material and development of FAQ document for volunteer advocates
  • Provide occasional legislative research support for public policy staff
  • Help organize events with federal and state legislators
  • Office tasks such as mailings and other administrative support
  • Other duties as assigned

2) Schedule Requirements:

We are looking for someone that is interested in politics, public policy, advocacy and ending Alzheimer’s disease. An ideal candidate would be majoring or minoring in political science, public policy or related field. The schedule requirements are flexible but must be pre-determined and must be within the Mon-Fri. 9am-5pm work week with a minimum of 10-15 hrs. per week.

3) Length of Commitment: January 2017 - May 2017

4) Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be confident on the phone
  • Possess exemplary writing and communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Interest in politics, government and a willingness to learn
