About Us

The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with logistics of March of Dimes’ largest campaign, March for Babies, in Milwaukee and Racine

  • Logistical planning includes, but is not limited to:

    • Working with Senior Development Manager and planning/ advisory volunteers

    • Work closely with the staff to conduct research and prospect new corporate teams and partners

    • Prospect organizations and schools to discuss involvement in March for Babies

    • Working with the County and City to acquire all required permits for each event

    • Working with external vendors to procure: tents, toilets, A/V gear, food

    • Procuring in-kind donations for March for Babies

    • Recruiting and organizing (inclusive of a day-of plan) volunteers to staff events

    • Confirming each events’ walk route

    • Developing collateral materials for walks (route cards, etc.)

    • Coordinate pre-event communications with teams and individual walkers

    • Working with walk teams to coordinate supporting events and fundraisers

    • Creating marketing and collateral materials for March for Babies and supporting events

    • Developing a full logistical plan for both events to ensure all event details are in a master working document

    • Be present day-of for each walk to ensure logistics operate as planned

  • Support staff with other relevant tasks as necessary

Qualifications

  • Excellent typing and computer skills, MS Office Suite a plus

  • Comfortable making phone calls to community partners and constituents

  • Willingness and eagerness to collaborate with other members of Development Team to achieve its objectives

Details

  • Start date flexible, mid-January preferred

  • Can provide credentials for formal internship/credit hours

  • 15-20 hours per week; schedule can be flexible, with potential for some remote work

  • Must provide own transportation to our office in Glendale, WI off Port Washington Rd.
