Thank you for being a an interest in being a volunteer tutor at Prince of Peace. The tutoring program could not exist without YOU! It will amaze you the difference a little of your time can make in one child’s life.

The tutoring program is every Thursday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm during the school year. So, whenever the school is closed for holidays, spring break and over the summer, our tutoring progam is also not in session. You will be working one-on-one with grade school child in an large open room. So, no one is allowed to meet with a child behnd closed doors.

We do ask that each of our volunteers take the 2 hour Literacy Training class offered by the Literacy Network of Cincinnati. This training provides ideas and materials to help make tutoring an enjoyable, convenient, and immensely rewarding volunteer opportunity. Training sessions will be held the first Tuesday of every month.

Please be aware that the Literacy Network will also perform a background check on you as well. It is important, as you know, to make sure that anyone working with children goes through a background check first.

Each of our tutoring sessions will begin with prayer, as we strive to share Christ in all of our activities. The sessions typically revolve around providing homework help but also extend to educational games and other activities as time allows. We always end with a healthy snack before sending them on their way home.
