SHARP (Study Skills, Homework Help, Arithmetic, and Reading Project) offers students enrolled in the Carole Robertson Center's After School Enrichment Program increased academic support in whichever areas they need the most help, especially understanding and completing homework, building study skills, reading comprehension, and basic math operations. Students are ages 5-12, so you don't need to be an expert in any subject to tutor. We will train you and give you all the tools and support you need to be an effective tutor, build positive relationships, and have fun!
During each tutoring session, tutors work with one or a pair of mentees in 45-minute shifts. After 30 minutes of homework or reading, each pair has the option to play games, visit the library, or continue reading and writing. Volunteers may commit to one, two or three 45-minute shifts per day/session.
Tutoring takes place at two of our three locations. Choose one (or even two!) times and locations that you can commit to from January through May 2017.
Monday and/or Wednesday at 3701 W. Ogden: arrive at 4:00, 4:45, or 5:30 and stay as late as 6:15
Tuesday and/or Thursday at 2929 W. 19th St., arrive at 4:30, 5:15, 6:00, or 6:45 and stay as late as 7:30
