Everyone is welcome to join us at our monthly volunteer work party on Second Saturdays. Help tend the Habitat Garden, Native Grassland, Bioswale, and Rain Garden, and learn more about how these features contribute to a healthy environment and watershed. Specific tasks might include removal of nonnative plants, mulching to protect soil, propagation and planting of native plants. Weekday opportunities can be arranged for 10 or more.
The meeting location is on the Greenway where 7th St. dead ends into the Greenway. The best access points are from 6th St. or 8th Street where they cross the Greenway, near the intersection with Ohio St. If you are looking up directions on the internet, the intersection of 6th and Ohio will get you there, or use Lincoln Elementary School, Richmond - it is on 6th St. and the Greenway also.
We will provide light snacks and water, but please bring a refillable water bottle if you have one. Please wear sturdy shoes and be prepared to get dirty. Long sleeves and pants can be helpful when dealing with some of the weeds, but it can also get quite warm on the Greenway by noon. Significant rain will cancel the event.
Everyone will need to sign a liability waiver, and if under 18 a parent or legal guardian signature is required - please contact us if you would like to receive the waiver ahead of time by email.
