YEAR-ROUND/DAILY OPERATIONS VOLUNTEERS
As the face of MOSI, volunteers help guide, teach, and enlighten museum guests. We are always looking for energetic, interested, and exciting individuals to help bring MOSI’s exhibits to life. If you are an outgoing individual with a desire to work with people and enjoy a wide range of opportunities, then MOSI is looking for you!

Applicant Requirements:
- Ages 15 and up (must have reached your 15th birthday prior to your first day of work)
- Applications are welcome on an ongoing basis for trainings that occur year-round
- Fees: A one-time $50 program and background check fee must be paid upon application to the program
- Commit to a minimum of 18 days (days do not need to be consecutive and are available year-round)
- Able to work any/all the following shifts: Weekdays: all-day (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Weekends: all-day (9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Half-day shifts available upon request
- Have a means of transportation to and from MOSI
- Completed application packet including: (Please note that volunteers under the age of 18 must have parental consent on the Application and the Medical Release form): The MOSI Volunteer Application form, Medical Release and Emergency Authorization form, Affidavit of Good Moral Character (must be notarized), Background Check Release Form
- Orientation. Potential volunteers must complete volunteer orientation. Orientations are scheduled monthly and last approximately 4 hours. Orientations have limited seats available.Prospective volunteers must register in advance for orientation and receive confirmation of registration via email. Prospective volunteers can call Volunteer Services at 813-987-6370 for more information.
There are a variety volunteer opportunities in this area. Opportunities include, but are not limited to:
- Operations such as Group Greeter. operating the Earthquake or the Hurricane Simulator, or staffing the BioWorks Butterfly Garden, Birthday Parties, Minecraft & Scout Workshops, et cetera
- Guest Services
- Outdoors: Living Systems/BioWorks/Butterfly Garden, Back Woods Forest Preserve, Historic Tree Grove, and Grounds
- HAM Radio Operator (18 or older & must be certified.)
- Administrative
