American Cancer Society Gift Closet, hosted by Kaiser Permanente
American Cancer Society Gift Closet volunteers help support cancer patients by offering free wigs, hats, scarves and other gift items provided by the American Cancer Society.
The Gift Closet is open Fridays from 9am to 4pm. Volunteers can work as little as once a month to once a week depending on availability, but it is preferred that volunteers take a regular shift per week (2-4 hours long), and willing to commit to volunteer for 6 months.
At the beginning of your shift, open the gift closet and set-up fitting stations.
Assist cancer patients with trying on wigs, hats and scarves.
Register patients for Look Good Feel Better workshop.
Complete paperwork documenting each patient who is provided with a gift item.
At the end of your shift, clean up fitting stations and put away gift items.
Training offered by the American Cancer Society on how to interact with patients, fit wigs and fill out paperwork.
