  • Formed in 1955, Beach Cities Health District is a public agency that provides health care services to the communities of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach
  • Adventureplex is a health and fitness center created especially for youth and is geared to challenge children physically, mentally, and intellectually with non‐stop activities in a safe, structured environment.

Time Commitment: At least 2 shifts weekly during seasonal camps

Shift times:10:00am-1:00pm or 1:00-4:00pm

Seasonal Camps:

November 21- 23, & 25th

December 19 th - 23 rd

December 26 th - 30 th

January 2 nd - 6 th


  • Ensure children experience a fun, educational and safe environment by monitoring Adventure Room and/or Toddler Town
  • Keep all areas of Toddler Town, Adventure Room, Patio, Restrooms, Reading Corner, Sport Court, party Rooms, and Outdoor area neat and clean
  • Assist with assigned activities (e.g.; arts and crafts, classes, rock climbing, ropes course, puppet show, costume play, story Time)
  • Assist Instructors with setting up and organizing activities during classes
  • Assist at the front desk with checking in/out parents and children when needed.

Qualifications Needed:

  • Must be 14 years or older
  • Friendly, positive, and excellent people skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively for marketing and customer service purposes
  • Ability to interact with children and parents in a calm and professional manner
  • Ability to comprehend AdventurePlex policies and procedures with a commitment to public and employee safety at AdventurePlex

Application Process:

All potential candidates are asked to complete the following application process to see if this position is an appropriate fit:

  • Interview with supervisor

Screening Process:

If the position fits the volunteer, the following screening process (at no cost to volunteer) will take place:

  • Criminal background check (if over 18 years of age)
  • TB test
  • Drug screen


Once the volunteer clears the screening process, the following training will be provided:

  • Complete BCHD Orientation (online or in‐house conducted once a month)
  • Attend initial training and AdventurePlex orientation with Assistant General Manager
  • Ongoing training and supervision by staff

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Check in with supervisor or Manager on Duty at the beginning of each shift for any assigned tasks or updates
  • Discuss any changes, concerns, etc. with supervisor before end of shift
  • Must track all volunteer hours in volunteer log binder (located in AdventurePlex offices) each month
