Safe Point

In February of 2016, Equitas Health partnered with Columbus Public Health to launch Columbus’s first syringe access program, Safe Point. Safe Point is a harm-reduction program where participants are given access to safer injection materials and education, HIV/STI testing, and drug treatment enrollment.

Since we started this program, we have seen a tremendous response from the community and what a need there is for programs like ours. We have saved lives by dispensing naloxone, referred nearly one-third of our participants to some form of alcohol or drug treatment, and improved quality of life, sense of self-worth, and access to quality healthcare for those that have walked through our doors.

We invite your group to join us as we serve a community that is all too often mistreated, demonized, or forgotten. We are looking for compassionate volunteers looking to make a lasting change in the health and well-being of our communities. Volunteers can engage in a number of ways, from helping us prepare our inventory for program days as a Kit Builder to educating clients about our program offerings as an Intervention Specialist.
