HOME Line is seeking volunteers to assist with surveying previous callers to our statewide tenant hotline about their bedbug experiences. Through this project, volunteers will reach out to nearly 1,000 Minnesota renters who reported problems with bedbugs to learn how tenants responded to advice from HOME Line’s tenant advocates and legal staff, how landlords responded to tenants’ requests to address bedbug infestations, and what the resulting outcomes were for those tenants.
Job Duties
- Work with HOME Line staff to call renters who previously contacted our hotline for advice
- Follow a script to ask specific questions related to bedbug infestations
- Data-enter client records
Qualifications
- Ability to work at our office during hours of operation (M-Th, 9-6; F, 9-3)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good judgment and willingness to ask for assistance when needed
- Adhere to client confidentiality
Duration and Time Commitment
This survey will take place on an ongoing basis from December 1, 2016 through February 28, 2017. You are welcome to contact us to volunteer anytime during this time period. We ask for a 30 hour time commitment during this time. Scheduling is very flexible within our hours of operation. Our hours are M-Th 9-6, F 9-3.

Mission Statement
HOMEline provides free legal organizing, education, and advocacy services so that tenants throughout Minnesota can solve their own rental housing problems. Since 1992, HOMEline has worked to improve public and private policies relating to rental housing by involving affected tenants in the process.
Description
HOME Line offers free legal advice to Minnesota tenants on our hotline service. Tenant/landlord law advice and problem-solving includes:
- Explanations of applicable laws
- Procedures for legal options available to tenants
- Providing form letters, fact sheets, excerpts from statutes, or other written information
- Referrals to local housing inspectors, sources of emergency assistance, etc.
Tenants who contact the hotline will usually receive immediate attention to their problem from one of the staff attorneys or volunteers. Tenants will receive free advice regarding Minnesota landlord/tenant law and options for resolving the problem will be offered. The hotline is free and available to all tenants, regardless of income.
We serve the entire state of Minnesota.
