Help The Actors Theatre Workshop (ATW) ring in the holidays as a volunteer at two special celebrations and creative classes for more than 100 children living in NYC temporary housing facilities on Tuesday, Dec. 13 and Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Since 1995, ATW has been providing New York City homeless children with a unique and life-changing experience through our 12-week after school theatre and education program, The Builders of the New World (BNW). These holiday celebrations will kick off our upcoming Winter/Spring BNW session . . . join with us share your holiday joy with the children as they enjoy a nutritious meal, experience an illuminating drama class and receive a special gift.

There are many ways you can help - - join a project team during November to prepare for the children’s parties and get the word out, decorate the theatre on Saturdays, Dec. 3 rd and 10 th , mentor the children on Tues, 12/13 and Weds, 12/14, connect us to top restaurants who can donate hot, nutritious meals for our celebrations . . . and more.

ATW's mission is to teach individuals from all walks of life original creative techniques that provides them with the tools to change and to create new, original theatre that examines the conflicts that have emerged form today's cultural mix and creates hope for the fulfillment in the human experience.

Description

Founded over two decades ago, the Actors Theatre Workshop is an established pioneer in non-profit theatre that produces classical and contemporary plays, develops new dramatic works, trains and develops actors, directors and writers while making a difference in the lives of at-risk youth and the community at large. Thurman E. Scott, ATW's artistic director, Executive Producer and Founder, is a widely acknowledged expert of artistic project development, an innovator of award-winning arts curriculums and programs for proffessional artistic training, and has a long and successful history of public service to culturaly under-served communities.
