Mission Statement

FTC supports FIRST’s mission of promoting science and technology by providing middle school through high school age youth a program that requires them to apply engineering principles in a competitive environment through the use of robotics. The FTC program rewards teamwork, Gracious Professionalismâ„¢, and intelligent design with a cost effective robotics platform. The game and tournament format encourage iterative design and shared learning. FTC is scalable and volunteer driven. FTC complements Jr. FLL, FLL and FRC by providing a means for students to participate in the FIRST community from middle school through high school.

Description

Los Angeles/Southern California FIRST Tech Challenge seeks to build on our long history of supporting FIRST Tech Challenge robotics teams in the nine-county Greater Los Angeles region. Our organization offers a unique opportunity to work directly with students eager to learn more about the fast paced world of robotics. Whether you are interested in organizational leadership, event volunteering, or mentorship, we have a perfect fit for all requests.

We are excited to continue to create great experiences for our 140 teams and beyond. We are excited to focus on (a) developing an even stronger regional organization to support our existing base and (b) expanding our outreach into additional under-served communities in the region. We are currently composed of a dedicated committee of adult volunteers ranging from FIRST alumna to industry professionals, all seeking to give opportunities to students interested in pursuing STEM.
