About

The Thrift Store Internship is a great way to get a headstart in a technology-based retail environment. Through this internship, you’ll learn how to identify a variety of tech, research market resale value, and operate a point-of-sale cashier system. You’ll also learn about merchandising techniques, store design, and you’ll hone your customer service skills too!

Job Title: Thrift Store Volunteer Intern

Hours Weekly: 4 to 15 hours/week

Free Geek Supervisor: Michael Kerr

Responsibilities
  • Merchandise (tidy, label, restock) items for sale in the store
  • Greet customers and answer their questions
  • Teach a small amount about software and hardware
  • Keep up with industry standards and resale prices for various technologies
  • Work with other areas of Free Geek to help keep the Thrift Store stocked.
  • Take inventory of certain items
  • Occasional testing of simple equipment
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Analytical approach to problem-solving
  • Experience leading or in customer service a plus
  • Technical aptitude is a plus
