General Summary

The social media intern will assist with social media content development and scheduling (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and provide additional administrative support as needed (answering phones, document development, media research, etc.) The social media intern will report to the Communications and Public Policy Coordinator. (UNPAID)


Essential Role Functions

  • Draft social media content consistent with provided messaging, calendars, and materials.
  • Become familiar with the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s disease, and our major events and programs to answer basic questions as needed.
  • In coordination with the communications coordinator, develop a consistent and relevant communications calendar throughout the year.
  • Assist with office administrative support, including but not limited to answering incoming calls, preparing outgoing correspondence, and receiving and directing office guests.

Expected Qualifications

  • Friendly, personable communication skills; ability to speak confidently over the phone.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google products (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Forms, etc.)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities; ability to work with diverse populations; high degree of creativity; high energy, maturity and leadership.
  • Proximity to Hudson and/or familiarity with the Greater East Ohio region is a plus.

*Chapter Services Include:

24/7 HelpLine: A telephone assistance service, which provides information, literature, support services and referral to specific Association programs and/or community resources. Ÿ

Care Management Programs: Family-centered programs that offer personalized guidance to families; helps families make informed choices as they cope with difficult issues.
Ÿ
Safe Return/MedicAlert: For those who wander, a national registry ID program to help register and identify individuals who are memory impaired due to Alzheimer’s disease. Ÿ

Support Groups: Over 60 support groups who meet regularly throughout the Cleveland Area and Greater East Ohio Area, facilitated by a professional and/or
family caregiver.

Early Stage Support Groups: On-going groups and programs for persons diagnosed with early-stage dementia and their caregiver.

Community Education: Educational programs for caregivers, professionals and the community. Each office also offers a speaker’s bureau and attends health fairs.

*The Greater East Ohio Area Chapter includes the Akron, Canton and Youngstown communities. The Cleveland Area Chapter includes Greater Cleveland, Lorain, Lake, Geauga & Lorain counties.
