A group of sixteen adults were ready to learn English when their instructor became too ill to teach the class. Do you have two hours twice a week to help these adult learners to improve their English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills?
The tutoring sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM at a center near Glenn and First Avenue. Some of the adult learners just need practice in speaking English. Others just recently arrived from another country and are eager to learn our language and culture. You’ll enjoy teaching these adults.
We have all the lessons and materials ready for you to help the adult learners reach their educational goals.

Mission Statement
Child-Parent Centers is a non-profit agency delivering Head Start and related programs throughout southeastern Arizona for prenatal through preschool age children and their families. The Focus of our work is School Readiness in: Parent Engagement & Family Development Early Childhood Development Health & Nutrition
Description
Child-Parent Centers, Inc. operates Head Start and Early Head Start programs in south eastern Arizona. The agency will serve approximately 2,600 children and families in the 2011 -2012 year in Pima, Cochise, Greenlee, Graham, and Santa Cruz Counties. The agency's scope of services includes comprehensive services to low income families with children from birth to kindergarten. The original intent of Head Start to provide children with what they need to be ready to learn upon entering kindergarten has been broadened to encompass preschool, family health and nutrition, life skills & job readiness, as well as the needs of pregnant women, infants and toddlers.
History:
This agency began providing Head Start services in 1966 following President Johnson's declaration of the war on poverty. Through the years, the range of services has increased based on the emerging needs of the various communities in which the agency operates.
Today, Child-Parent Centers' Adult Literacy Program provides English, GED, and computer skills to the parents who have children enrolled in the Head Start Program. Volunteers from the community tutor the parents twice a week for two hours at a Head Start Center or public facility such as a library. Last year the Adult Literacy Program helped over 200 parents receive literacy and educational training.
