Crystal Lake Elementary is seeking mentor volunteers to assist in subject tutoring for grades Kindergarten through 5th. Research indicates that students who meet regularly with mentors are less likely to skip school, less likely than their peers to start using illegal drugs, and less likely to start drinking. Mentors will work with students during their physical education period on challenging subject skills or concepts. Different strategies or games may be used such as flashcards or books provided by the school.
Volunteers are needed 1 day per week for 45 minutes or 2 days per week for 30 minutes each.
The mission of Polk County Public Schools is to provide a high-quality education for all students.
