OUR MISSION: The Baltimore City Community College Refugee Youth Project seeks to improve the lives of Baltimore’s youngest refugees by supporting their academic needs and making their integration simple and meaningful.
THE POSITION: RYP leverages the help of over 200 volunteers each year to make our after-school, mentoring, summer school, community arts, and social enterprise programs a success! You will help with volunteer engagement and interact with a variety of individuals interested in helping make Baltimore a more welcoming home for refugees.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help publicize volunteer opportunities to support effective volunteer recruitment
- Assist with identifying and attending opportunities for outreach
- Liaise with current and potential volunteers
- Support Volunteer Specialist in designing and executing special events for volunteer recruitment and recognition
- Perform relevant administrative tasks like data entry, collecting hours, copying materials, etc
- Support Program Coordinator when necessary
- Other duties as requested
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree or current/part-time students
- Experience/strength/interest in one or some of the following: Volunteerism, Volunteer Management, Social Work, Social Services, Project Management, and/or Non Profit Leadership/Management
- Experience and/or interest in working with refugees and children
- Strong writing and speaking skills

Description
RYP is committed to its mission of creating a safe environment for refugee children to improve their literacy skills, enhance their knowledge of American culture, engage in enriching extracurricular activities, and grow to be confident, caring individuals. Each year, we serve over 300 students from ages 4-21 through quality services including after-school tutoring, mentoring, summer school, community arts, and social enterprise programs. Our students come from over 17 different countries, including Bhutan, Burma, Iraq, Eritrea, Congo, Syria, and Sudan.
