Interpreter volunteers offer support to the site by interpreting for taxpayers who have limited English language skills. An interpreter cannot answer any Tax Law questions or determine certification levels unless the interpreter has certified in Tax Law. An interpreter will assist in the making sure that participants and the volunteer communicate effectively.
Tasks:
Interpret for volunteers and taxpayers to ensure accurate communication and taxpayer understanding.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Friendly, dependable, and flexible
Fluent in your language of interpretation
Ability to deal with volunteers, and the public in a helpful and supportive manner in a fast-paced environment
Training Required:
Interpreter require a minimum of 2 hours of training; receiving trainng on ethics and volunteer policies.
Suggested volunteer commitment:
We encourage volunteers to sign up to volunteer at least 1-2 times a week as their schedule allows.

Established in 1965, Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders Counties Community Action empowers people living in poverty to reach economic stability. We offer 16 unique programs to ensure that everyone, regardless of their economic situation, has the opportunity to thrive.
Last year, Community Action served 17,805 individuals and families. Our high-quality early childhood education programs ensure that our community's most vulnerable children are ready for kindergarten, and more likely to graduate from high school. Families learn and save in our matched savings program as they work to purchase their first home, launch or expand a business, or continue their education. At Community Action, individuals build their skills in orer to acheive meaningful employment. We offer the critical next steps in establishing and maintaining long-term economic stability.
Our participants are remarkable people. They take responsibility for making lasting changes in their lives by making use of their own unique strengths. As a result, they are better able to manage their living situations, and make positive steps toward economic stability.
