Quality Reviewer volunteer for the Tax Prep Program

A Quality Reviewer volunteer is an experienced team player that is able to review others work by providing editing and accuracy. A Quality Reviewer will maintain proficiency and communicate with taxpayer if questions arise. A Quality Reviewer is in charge of examining a taxpayer’s return to ensure a complete, and an accurate return. Successfully complete ADVANCED Tax Law Certification. It is highly encouraged to certify for Cancelation of Debt and Health Saving Accounts, Military returns, and Foreign Student returns.

Tasks:

• Verify all taxpayer’s information is filled out correctly

• Provide high-quality reviews for all returns

• Review all relevant documents along with asking any follow up questions if needed

• Call taxpayers to ask any clarifying questions needed

• Ensure all returns are quality reviewed accurately

• Communicate with Tax Preparers about any mistakes or issues with returns

• Ensure that taxpayer documents are confidentially and securely stored

• Mark returns which are ready for the Finishing appointment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Satisfaction in performing tasks completely and accurately

Ability to deal with volunteers and take charge and ask as many questions as needed

Friendly, dependable, and flexible

Training Required:

Quality Reviewer requires a minimum of 16 hours of training; receiving training on ethics, Tax Law, and tax software. Highly encouraged to certify for Cancelation of Debt (Advanced), and Health Savings Accounts, Military returns, and Foreign Student returns.

Suggested volunteer commitment:

We encourage volunteers to sign up to volunteer at least 1-2 times a week as their schedule allows.
