Tax Preparer volunteer is able to provide free tax return preparation for qualified taxpayers; working one-on-one with taxpayers to prepare accurate returns. Experienced Tax Preparers may perform quality reviews on returns prepared by other Tax Preparers. A Tax Preparer is in charge of providing the greatest degree of public trust, to provide quality service and uphold the highest ethical standards.
Tasks:
Successfully complete BASIC and/ or ADVANCED Tax Law Certification.
Provide high-quality tax return preparation to all taxpayers.
Review documents, and notes from Intake interview volunteers to determine if all income, deductions, and allowable credits are claimed.
Note any questions that arise through preparation of the return to be asked to the taxpayers. Ensure all returns are quality reviewed.
Ensure all taxpayer documents are securely stored.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Satisfaction in performing tasks completely and accurately.
Ability to deal with volunteers, and the public in a helpful and supportive manner.
Friendly, dependable, and flexible.
Suggested volunteer commitment:
We encourage volunteers to sign up to volunteer at least 1-2 times a week as their schedule allows.

Established in 1965, Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders Counties Community Action empowers people living in poverty to reach economic stability. We offer 16 unique programs to ensure that everyone, regardless of their economic situation, has the opportunity to thrive.
Last year, Community Action served 17,805 individuals and families. Our high-quality early childhood education programs ensure that our community's most vulnerable children are ready for kindergarten, and more likely to graduate from high school. Families learn and save in our matched savings program as they work to purchase their first home, launch or expand a business, or continue their education. At Community Action, individuals build their skills in orer to acheive meaningful employment. We offer the critical next steps in establishing and maintaining long-term economic stability.
Our participants are remarkable people. They take responsibility for making lasting changes in their lives by making use of their own unique strengths. As a result, they are better able to manage their living situations, and make positive steps toward economic stability.
