The Maiden Creek Watershed Association is a volunteer group working together to improve water quality by chemical monitoring of streams and monitoring macroinvertebrates. We also help our partner organizations to improve farmers BMP's (Best Management Practices) by helping to plant trees in riparian buffers of the stream to filter the toxins before it reaches the stream. They also fence the cows out of the streams to prevent pollution. Removal of invasive plants is another task to give native plants a chance to survive, and which our mammals, amphibians and insects need in order to successfully improve their habitat. Streambank restoration is another need in our watershed. Join us if you can and learn more about our activity. Contact me with your address / e-mail for more information. This area is located in Northeast Berks County and SouthWest Lehigh County, Pennsylvania and includes Leaser lake, Pine Creek, Ontelaunee Creek, Kistler Creek, Sacony Creek, Willow Creek, Furnace Creek, Stony Run, Mill Creek, Moselem Creek, Bailey Creek, Peters Creek and numerous un-named creeks and springs.
