ORGANIZATION: Chattahoochee Valley Libraries

GUYS READ is a web-based literacy program for boys founded by author Jon Scieszka. The mission for the program is to help boys become self-motivated, lifelong readers. Chattahoochee Valley Libraries will host a five week GUYS READ mentorship program that will take place January 30, 2017 - March 3, 2017 at select elementary schools. We are now accepting applications for our 4th Guys Read Mentorship program and we are looking for adult male volunteers 21 years and older. If you have an outgoing personality, love reading and working with kids, this is the perfect opportunity for you! New applicants should complete the online volunteer application and background release form November 7th - December 16th.

VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT

*Be available January 30, 2017 - March 3, 2017 to read or book-talk visually appealing, fun age appropriate books, both fiction and non-fiction to a small group of 4th grade boys. Pre-selected book titles will be used throughout the duration of the program. Volunteers must have reliable transportation and be available twice during the school lunch hour.
