Cell Lab
A SMM Cell Lab volunteer helps future scientists with their experiement.

We’re looking for energetic individuals to help us inspire the
scientists of tomorrow!

The Cell Lab is a hands-on wet biology lab located in the Human Body Gallery. In the Cell Lab, volunteers help visitors to perform science experiments using real lab equipment. Volunteers greet visitors at the lab entrance and help them choose an appropriate experiment. Volunteers also assist at computer-guided workstations, known as activity benches, and help visitors explore topics in cellular, molecular, and microbiology. They also perform routine housekeeping duties such as sterilizing goggles and restocking the benches.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A team player with great customer service skills
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Good at engaging kids and adults
  • Excited to work within a highly collaborative team
  • Enjoys being on-the-move in a high energy environment, but also able to keep busy with other tasks when not working with visitors.
Shifts available:

Wednesdays 11:00 am - 3:00pm
