ORGANIZATION: Talented Girls in Action

Talented Girls in Action (TGIA) is a non-profit in Charlotte NC. TGIA was founded because many girls are slipping through the educational gaps in our current system. Many have been labeled as at risk or behaviorally challenged, especially those in minority schools. TGIA's mission is to effect positive change within the lives of those apart of our program, through academic support a character development curriculum and mentorships.

TGIA is currently in need of volunteers to join our board of directors. We are seeking individuals who have time and passion to dedicate towards the mission and vision of this organization. TGIA searching for individuals who have the following skill sets:

  • Marketing

    Education: BComm, BA or MBA with specialization in marketing

    • art of marketing - marketing courses teach marketing theories, the lingo, the processes, how to think like a customer, how to declutter and clarify a message.
    • science of marketing - accounting, finance and statistics courses teach how to analyze marketing efficiencies.
    • consulting - case studies teach how to analyze a situation quickly and how functions inter-related
  • Strategic anaylist
  1. Must have a BA or MBA as well as nonprofit experience
  2. is responsible for revieing our strategic plan and developing plans to determine the overall direction we should take to fullfill each goal.

Talented Girls In Action is a 501(c) nonprofit organization that exist to advance the next generation of young girls to operate at a standard of excellence in every aspect of their lives, by unlocking their unique potential as well as forming a life long passion for education. TGIA will incorporate discipline, integrity and acts of service into the curriculum to assist girls as they matriculate into the next chapter of their lives.

Description

Talented Girls In Action is an after school program that exist to advance the next generation of young girls through a multifaceted curriculum, mentor-ship, individualized tutoring and enrichment opportunities.

We serve girls from the ages of 12 to 18 that come from disadvantage backgrounds. Our main initiative to encourage girls to come into confident possession of their own unique talents by transforming their underprivileged mindset and providing a new outlook into their academic future.

Many young girls are dealing with very challenging socio-economic issues that inhibit them from finding positive outlets for their time and energy.

Through TGIA young girls will be able to discuss their problems in a safe and nurturing environment where viable solution are provided for them to pursue. All the while developing a positive outlook for their futures and their self image.
