Mission Statement

YALLA is the first and only comprehensive program in California that uses soccer to motivate child survivors of war and immigrant youth to help rebuild their lives through our education, leadership, and eco-therapy programs.

Description

Youth and Leaders Living Actively was established in January 2010 in San Diego, the largest resettlement city in the United States to work with immigrant youth and child survivors of war. With soccer as the hook and college as the goal, local San Diegan youth enroll in our soccer, education, and ecotherapy programs. We serve an average of 250-300 kids a year, and they receive 10-15 hours of program activities each week, making it their primary after-school care. Using soccer as incentive, YALLA requires its scholar-athletes to adhere to both its rigorous academic tutoring and to receive treatment through its eco-therapy program. YALLA's personal and intensive approach helps each child, most of whom suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and have either lost family members or have been orphaned by war.

We are based in the City of El Cajon, where most of our programs are held.
